The house is designed with a focus on sobriety and simplicity, both in terms of volumes and materials, ensuring it blends harmoniously with its natural surroundings. The aim is to preserve the green character of the site, while creating a structure that adapts perfectly to the existing topography.

The garden level, nestled against the slope, offers a seamless connection to the landscape, while the ground floor is carefully set back, presenting the illusion of a single-story building from the main street.

From the outset, the exceptional nature of the site shaped the direction of the project. The breathtaking view of the Pyrenees was envisioned as an essential component of the design, prompting the creation of an expansive exterior terrace that extends the interior living space. By opening the large bay windows, the two areas – indoor and outdoor – become a unified space, blurring the boundaries between nature and the home.

Materials were selected with the intention of creating a harmonious integration into the heavily wooded environment. The use of burnt wood as the primary cladding material allows the house to gently merge with the surrounding forest.
Ground floor plan.
The foundation of the structure is a reinforced concrete base with micro-piles, necessary due to the unstable sandy soil. The ground floor, raised above the earth, is finished in brick, clad in the same burnt wood, completing the home’s natural aesthetic.

Casa a Soorts-Hossegor, Landes, Francia
La casa è progettata con un’attenzione particolare alla sobrietà e alla semplicità, sia per quanto riguarda i volumi che i materiali, in modo da integrarsi armoniosamente con l’ambiente naturale circostante. L’obiettivo è preservare il carattere verde del sito, creando al contempo una struttura che si adatti perfettamente alla topografia esistente.

Il livello del giardino, incastonato contro il pendio, offre un collegamento fluido con il paesaggio, mentre il piano terra è arretrato con cura, dando l’illusione di un edificio a un solo livello visto dalla strada principale.

Fin dall’inizio, l’eccezionalità del sito ha orientato lo sviluppo del progetto. La vista mozzafiato sui Pirenei è stata considerata un elemento fondamentale della composizione, portando alla creazione di un’ampia terrazza esterna che prolunga lo spazio abitativo interno. Aprendo le grandi vetrate, le due aree – interna ed esterna – si fondono in un unico ambiente, sfumando il confine tra natura e abitazione.

I materiali sono stati scelti con l’intento di favorire un’integrazione armoniosa nel contesto fortemente boschivo. L’impiego del legno bruciato come principale rivestimento consente alla casa di fondersi con discrezione nella foresta circostante.

La struttura poggia su una base in cemento armato con micropali, necessaria a causa del terreno sabbioso e instabile. Il piano terra, rialzato rispetto al suolo, è rifinito in mattoni e rivestito con lo stesso legno bruciato, completando l’estetica naturale dell’edificio.
